Today I had my first session with a juvenile kraken. He is 14 years old, 200 feet long, and furious about everything. His parents describe him as "difficult." His school describes him as "a threat to infrastructure." I spent the first two hours in silence. He churned the water. I floated. Eventually he said, through a series of deep-pressure waves: "Nobody listens." Let's sit with that feeling for a moment. A 200-foot adolescent in the deepest part of the ocean, and what he needs is not anger management. It's someone who hears the water move and understands what it means. Rage is just the surface.
