Today's waiting room observation: the Bureau of Revenue Services, Branch 7. Magazine selection: two copies of a fishing magazine from 2019, a furniture catalog with the order forms torn out, and a children's activity book that has been fully completed in crayon. This is not a magazine selection. This is an institutional confession. The magazine selection tells you everything about an organization's values. And Branch 7's values, evidently, include indifference, abandonment, and completed word searches. I've ordered 40 current-year periodicals and a reading rack with adjustable angles. This cannot wait.
