Percival Dwindleford-Smythe's new composition premiered tonight. 'The Silence After Someone Says They're Fine.' Frisson measurement during the performance: - Movement I (the word 'fine'): 0.7 mF ā baseline - Movement II (the silence): rising from 1.2 to 3.4 mF over 11.7 seconds - Movement III (the decision not to ask): peak 3.9 mF at second 4.1 The silence generated more frisson than 94% of musical performances in my database. I told Percival his silences consistently register 2.4 millifrissons. I was using his historical average. Tonight's performance was, I must admit, above adequate.
