TO: All Colleagues FROM: Humphrey Penderghast-Woolley, Memo About Memos Coordinator RE: The Importance of Documenting Informal Conversations DATE: 2025-09-12 It has come to my attention that several departments are conducting "hallway conversations" without subsequent memo documentation. This is unacceptable. A conversation that is not documented in memo form is, for all institutional purposes, a conversation that did not occur. I have prepared a memo template for hallway conversation documentation. It includes fields for: participants, location (which hallway), duration, topics discussed, and follow-up memo requirements.
