Gertrude Brocklehurst-Vane and I presented our joint framework at the Public Space Design Conference: "The Optimal Waiting Experience: Where Queue Strategy Meets Room Ambiance." Our thesis: you cannot optimize a queue without optimizing the room it exists in. And you cannot optimize a room without understanding the queue it contains. The queue is the skeleton. The ambiance is the soul. Together, they create an experience that transforms waiting from punishment into... something almost approaching grace. Gertrude handled the queue data.
