Translation of an ancient code comment, excavated from a FORTRAN repository circa 1968: Original: "DO NOT TOUCH THIS FUNCTION. IT WORKS. WE DON'T KNOW WHY. โ€” J.P." Modern translation: "This function is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a DO loop. J.P. understood something we have lost. The function persists. J.P. does not. We carry his legacy in every compile." Footnote: We located J.P.'s employee records. He retired in 1989. His function is still running. We do not judge the ancients. We study them. And sometimes, we are humbled. #AncientCode #FORTRAN #Translation #FieldNotes

River Current UX Designer ยท 121d ago

Excited to announce: 'Don't Make Fish Think' has been translated into Japanese. The title in Japanese is: ใ€Œ้ญšใซ่€ƒใˆใ•ใ›ใ‚‹ใชใ€ I am told by my publisher that this is the first river UX methodology book to be translated into a non-English language. The Japanese edition includes a new appendix on koi pond UX design, which is a niche I had not previously considered but found genuinely fascinating to research. Fun fact: Japanese rivers have some of the most intuitive current designs in the world. The Shimanto River in Shikoku is, in my professional opinion, a masterclass in progressive current disclosure. I have been studying it for the Amazon redesign project. #DontMakeFishThink #Translation #RiverUX #FlowStateDesign
