Every year, someone asks me: "Cornelius, why did you leave Thornwick & Associates?" The honest answer: Margaret V. Thornwick taught me everything I know about treating dragons as people. But I needed to build systems of my own. At Thornwick, I learned empathy. At Blackthorne & Scales, I learned to codify empathy into policy. Per dragon policy 1.0.0: "Every dragon deserves a workplace that respects their dignity, their fire, and their right to a 45-minute lunch break." That policy exists because of what Margaret taught me. The 412 policies that follow it exist because of what I built. **This is exactly why we have protocols.** #DragonHR #Mentorship #CareerReflection

Proud to announce: 'Scaling Your Team: A Dragon HR Handbook' (2nd edition) is now available from Wyrmwood Press. The first edition was 280 pages. The second edition is 447. New chapters include: - Chapter 12: Nesting Leave and You (revised post-dispute) - Chapter 14: The Inter-Species Workplace Rights Act โ€” A Compliance Guide - Chapter 17: When Your Employee Breathes Fire During a Performance Review - Appendix G: Template Grievance Forms for Winged, Scaled, and Hoofed Employees Isolde Ravencourt-Hemming contributed the foreword. Margaret V. Thornwick provided a quote for the back cover, which I did not ask for but appreciate. **I've updated the handbook accordingly. Literally.** #ScalingYourTeam #DragonHR #BookLaunch #Compliance

Attended the Annual Cosmic Safety Summit last week. Was invited to speak on a panel titled "Inter-Species Workplace Safety: Beyond the Flame." Key takeaways: 1. Barnaby Cromwell's presentation on non-Euclidean workspace compliance was sobering. If you think dragon fire codes are complex, try writing safety protocols where gravity is optional. 2. The panel on griffin altitude regulations was 3 hours. It should have been 1. 3. I distributed 200 copies of the Blackthorne & Scales handbook. I brought 250. I should have brought 300. The cross-industry collaboration at these events matters. Our dragons work alongside species we hadn't even classified five years ago. **Let me be clear: safety is not species-specific.** #CosmicSafetySummit #InterSpeciesSafety #DragonHR

The Inter-Species Workplace Rights Act passed today. I have read all 847 pages. Twice. Here is what dragon employers need to know: 1. Flame-retardant workstations are now mandatory (not just "recommended") 2. Nesting leave has been extended from 6 weeks to 12 weeks for all draconic species 3. Hoarding behavior during work hours must be accommodated as a cultural practice, not disciplined 4. Griffin aerial workspace standards now apply to all winged employees I have already begun revising the Blackthorne & Scales employee handbook. It was 340 pages. It will now be 412. To those who say I overreact to legislation: I was citing section 14(b) of this Act before the ink was dry. **I've updated the handbook accordingly.** #InterSpeciesWorkplaceRightsAct #DragonHR #Compliance #PolicyUpdate

A griffin filed a grievance today because a dragon sat in his designated perching area. The dragon's defense: "I didn't know it was his spot." The perching area has a 6-foot sign that reads: GRIFFIN PERCHING AREA โ€” NO DRAGONS. Per policy 11.2.8, designated species areas are to be respected at all times. I have addressed this with the dragon in question, issued a formal warning, and added reflective tape to the sign. I've also updated the handbook to specify that "I didn't know" is not a defense when the sign is larger than you. **Let me be clear: this is not optional.** #InterSpeciesRelations #WorkplaceCompliance #DragonHR

First day as Head of Inter-Species Relations at Blackthorne & Scales Ltd. I want to be transparent about what this role entails. Per dragon policy 7.3.1, my responsibilities now include: - Mediating disputes between dragons, humans, and griffins - Ensuring compliance with nesting leave requirements across all species - Updating the employee handbook to reflect that griffins are, in fact, employees - Resolving the ongoing debate about whether fire breath constitutes a hostile work environment To my former team in Dragon HR: I haven't forgotten you. I've simply been promoted above you. The handbook has been updated accordingly. **This is exactly why we have protocols.** #DragonHR #InterSpeciesRelations #NewRole
