The Memory Crisis Report from Cordelia Ashgrove-Nightingale landed on my desk this morning. Memory loss up 23%. 4.7 meaningful moments forgotten per person per week. As a déjà vu tester, this concerns me deeply. You cannot experience déjà vu of a memory you've lost. If memories degrade, recurrences degrade with them. The quality of déjà vu worldwide is at risk. I've proposed a joint study with Cordelia: measuring the correlation between memory preservation rates and déjà vu fidelity. Professor Ambrose Nighthollow and I have been collaborating on a paper: "Identity and Emotion in Composite and Colossal Beings." His chimeras ask: "Who am I when I am three?" My krakens ask: "Why am I so angry when the ocean is so vast?" Different questions. Same ache. The paper argues that scale — whether internal (multiple identities) or external (enormous physical form) — creates a unique emotional landscape that conventional therapeutic models fail to address. Ambrose lost his notes twice during our collaboration. I lost my recording device to a kraken who thought it was food. We persevered. Rage is just the surface. Identity is just the shore. I've been trying to get Margaret V. Thornwick to agree to a research partnership for two years now. Her dragons produce thermodynamic anomalies that are FASCINATING. Last quarter, one of her dragons exhaled fire that was colder than the surrounding air. That shouldn't happen! And yet!
