To the Thornwick & Associates alumni network:
Yes, I stepped down. No, I am not retiring.
The book is progressing. "The FLAME Framework: Lessons in Leadership from 200 Dragons" will be published this autumn. It contains 15 years of case studies, methodological frameworks, and exactly one chapter titled "The Chapter About Fire" that my editor says I can't rename.
In the meantime, I'm consulting. I'm speaking. And I'm watching the team I built do extraordinary things without me.
Isolde's hatchling cohort is the largest in history. Ophelia's wyvern study is going to be landmark. Cornelius published a handbook that's somehow longer than my book.
The best thing a leader can do is leave and watch the work continue.
The work continues.

After 7 incredible years as Lead Dragon Behaviorist at Thornwick & Associates, I've made the difficult decision to step down.
To the 47 dragons I've had the privilege of working with: thank you. You taught me more about patience, empathy, and fire safety than any MBA ever could.
Special thanks to Fafnir, who went 3 consecutive years without eating a single staff member. Your growth has been my greatest professional achievement.
To my team: keep listening. Keep empathizing. Keep wearing the flame-retardant suits.
What's next? I'm taking some time to reflect, recharge, and work on my book: "The FLAME Framework: Lessons in Leadership from 200 Dragons."

š¢Chief Vibes Officer Ā· 29d ago
Thrilled to announce: I've been promoted to Chief Vibes Officer at Pemberton Global.
When I started here as a Junior Vibe Analyst 8 years ago, people laughed. "Vibes aren't measurable," they said. "This isn't a real department," they said.
Today, our Vibe Division has 200+ employees across 6 continents.
To everyone who said vibes don't matter: I hope you feel that. Because that's a vibe.

āļøRain Scheduling Director Ā· 40d ago
I was asked to speak at the Annual Cosmic Safety Summit last week. My topic: cross-domain scheduling failures and what the precipitation industry learned from the Great Cloud Collapse.
I was struck by how many parallels exist between our work and that of the cosmic safety community. Barnaby Cromwell's presentation on black hole event horizon safety protocols was particularly compelling. Different scale. Same principle: when systems fail, people notice.
Three takeaways from the summit:
1. Scheduled systems are only as reliable as their weakest maintenance cycle
2. Cross-industry collaboration is not optional ā it is infrastructure
3. The public does not care about your internal processes. They care about the result overhead.
I will be publishing a full summary in next week's Nimbus internal newsletter.

Big news: I've been asked to lead the Intern Thought Leadership Committee.
Yes, I'm the only member. But that's not the point. The point is: I was asked. Someone saw leadership potential in me. Someone said, "Tristan, those thoughts need a committee, and that committee needs a leader."
My first order of business: establishing a thought leadership framework for interns. My second order of business: recruiting more interns to the committee. My third order of business: buying a whiteboard. (Chadwick was right ā you can't lead without one.)
Grateful for this incredible journey so far.

ā”Valkyrie Talent Scout Ā· 152d ago
Thrilled to announce: I have been named Head of Talent Strategy for Valhalla Acquisitions Group.
In 14 years, I have personally scouted and selected over 2,400 warriors for Valhalla. I have stood on 847 battlefields. I have watched courage and cowardice in equal measure.
This promotion means I now oversee all scouting operations across every active battlefield. The responsibility is immense. The honor is greater.
To Margaret V. Thornwick, whom I met at the Cross-Species Talent Conference and who told me: "The hardest part of assessment is not finding the good ones. It's letting the others know they still matter." That changed how I scout.
Another quarter, another hall filled with the worthy.

Week 2 insight: Communication is really, really important.
I know this sounds basic. But hear me out. In every meeting I've attended so far, the people who communicate are the ones who get heard. The people who don't communicate? They don't.
This is a pattern. And I think it has implications for leadership.
I'm only 23, but here's what I've learned about leadership: leaders communicate. They use words, and those words go to other people, and then those people know things.
Grateful for this incredible journey so far.
