Brief

In fifteen years with Valhalla Acquisitions Group, I have personally assessed and selected over 2,400 warriors for eternal service in Valhalla—a responsibility I do not take lightly. Talent scouting at the highest level requires more than presence on the battlefield; it demands an understanding of courage in all its forms, the ability to evaluate potential in a single moment of crisis, and the judgment to know who will thrive in eternity. My proprietary Valor Assessment Matrix (VAM) replaced the legacy single-metric evaluation system ('heroic death') with a comprehensive 12-factor framework that considers tactical intelligence, team loyalty, creative problem-solving under fire, and moral courage—a category I introduced in 2023 as the first valkyrie to formally recognize non-combat valor. I graduated from the Asgard Academy of Warrior Assessment (honors) and hold advanced certifications in Battlefield Talent Identification (BTI-V), Strategic Workforce Planning for Eternal Organizations, and Cross-Cultural Valor Assessment. In 2026, I am pioneering the 'Living Legends' program—an early-identification initiative that builds talent pipelines among warriors who have not yet fallen, ensuring Valhalla's roster remains the most competitive in the Nine Realms. I do not recruit the willing. I select the worthy.

Testimonials

Katerina and I met at a cross-species talent conference, and I immediately recognized a peer. We are both senior women in assessment fields where our expertise is constantly questioned. Her Valor Assessment Matrix is the warrior evaluation equivalent of my FLAME framework — systematic, rigorous, and impossible to dismiss. Our annual dinners are the highlight of my conference calendar.

Margaret V. Thornwick, Dragon Behaviorist

Katerina's careful, measured approach to warrior assessment is the exact opposite of her reputation. People think Valkyries are impulsive. Katerina's 12-factor Valor Assessment Matrix is the most rigorous talent framework I've encountered — and I apply 47-point checklists to black holes.

Barnaby Cromwell, Black Hole Safety Inspector

Katerina tried to recruit three of my cerberus trainees. I said no. She sent a formal acknowledgment that read simply: 'Noted. Respect.' That is more words than most people get from a Valkyrie Talent Scout. My trainees are professionals, not recruits — and Katerina understood that immediately.

Helena Brightwater-Marsh, Cerberus Obedience Trainer

Katerina understands what it means to hold someone's fate in your hands and not flinch. My team reviews 40,000 songs per quarter. Her scouts assess warriors in their final moments. We both know what it costs to judge correctly — and what it costs to get it wrong.

Update on the shield-maiden from September. She fought again last week. With two functioning arms this time. She won. She doesn't know I'm watching. That's by design. The Living Legends program observes before it engages. But I wanted to share this because talent acquisition is a long game. Five months ago, I saw potential in a young warrior who lost a fight. Today, I see confirmation. The battlefield is the ultimate assessment center. And the best assessments happen over time, not in a single moment. Talent is forged, not found. She's being forged. #ShieldMaidenUpdate #LivingLegends #TalentPipeline #LongGame

I don't scout warriors, but I do evaluate pastry chefs over multi-year timelines. The principle is identical: potential is not a single data point. It is a trajectory.

Attended Cassandra Ironveil-Bright's panel at the Digital Safety Summit on content moderation at scale. Her team reviews 40,000 siren songs per quarter. My team assesses 200+ warriors per quarter. Different scale, similar emotional toll. We met afterward. She said: "We both judge. We both carry the weight of that judgment." She's right. Every warrior I don't select is a person I've decided isn't ready for Valhalla. Every song Cassandra takes down is an artist she's decided crossed a line. Neither of us takes these decisions lightly. Both of us lose sleep. To everyone in assessment, moderation, and selection roles: the weight is real. Carry it with honor. Another quarter, another hall filled with the worthy. And the weight of those who are not yet. #JudgmentAtScale #ContentModeration #TalentSelection #SharedWeight

I am pioneering the 'Living Legends' program — early-identification talent pipelining for pre-mortem candidates. Controversial? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely. Here's the problem: by the time a warrior meets traditional Valhalla criteria, they're dead. We have no relationship with them. No context. No understanding of their journey. The Living Legends program identifies warriors of extraordinary potential BEFORE their final moment and builds a relationship with them. We provide mentorship, training referrals, and career development. Barnaby Cromwell asked me if this was "recruiting people who aren't dead yet." I told him it was talent pipelining. He said that was the same thing. I told him it wasn't. (It kind of is. But the framing matters.) Talent is forged, not found. The Living Legends program helps forge it. #LivingLegends #TalentPipeline #PreMortemScouting #ValhallaTalent

This is stakeholder experience design applied to mortality. I respect it deeply and am also slightly unsettled by it. Both feelings can coexist.

Unsettled is the correct response. If you are comfortable with what I do, I am not explaining it accurately enough.

The Dragon Nesting Season Labor Dispute produced an unexpected scouting opportunity. During the dispute, a dragon named Svalinn stood between the picket line and a group of hatchlings when a wildfire broke out near the facility. She could have flown away. She is a 40-ton fire drake with no obligation to the hatchlings. She stayed. She shielded them with her body for 3 hours until the fire passed. She sustained burns across 40% of her left wing. I was there. I was scouting the dispute because labor conflicts reveal character. Svalinn meets every criterion in the Valor Assessment Matrix. Non-combat valor, section 3.2: "Deliberate sacrifice for the protection of others." I have added her to the pipeline. When her time comes — and for a 40-ton fire drake, that may be centuries from now — Valhalla will be ready. I don't recruit. I select. And sometimes selection begins with a fire. #NestingDispute #NonCombatValor #ValhallaTalent #SvalinnWatch

Burns across 40% of her wing. She chose pain over flight. That is not valor — that is love wearing armor. I would very much like to speak with Svalinn someday.

The Inter-Species Workplace Rights Act has implications for Valhalla that nobody is discussing. Section 44: "All talent acquisition processes, including post-mortem selection, must comply with non-discrimination standards." Post-mortem selection. That's us. For centuries, Valhalla selection was simple: die heroically in battle. The Valor Assessment Matrix I developed in 2021 expanded this to include non-combat valor. The Act now requires us to go further. We must ensure our selection criteria do not discriminate by: - Species - Weapon type - Battle scale (a skirmish can produce valor equal to a siege) - Physical ability To the compliance team: I've already drafted the updated guidelines. To the traditionalists who think "die heroically" is the only metric: the Act disagrees. So do I. The battlefield is the ultimate assessment center. But even assessment centers must evolve. #InterSpeciesWorkplaceRightsAct #ValhallaTalent #Compliance #SelectionEvolution

Thrilled to announce: I have been named Head of Talent Strategy for Valhalla Acquisitions Group. In 14 years, I have personally scouted and selected over 2,400 warriors for Valhalla. I have stood on 847 battlefields. I have watched courage and cowardice in equal measure. This promotion means I now oversee all scouting operations across every active battlefield. The responsibility is immense. The honor is greater. To Margaret V. Thornwick, whom I met at the Cross-Species Talent Conference and who told me: "The hardest part of assessment is not finding the good ones. It's letting the others know they still matter." That changed how I scout. Another quarter, another hall filled with the worthy. #Promotion #HeadOfTalentStrategy #Valhalla #Leadership

Scouted 12 warriors this week across three battlefields. Of the 12: - 3 met Valhalla selection criteria - 2 showed potential but need further observation - 7 were brave but not ready I don't recruit. I select. And selection means saying no far more often than saying yes. One of the 7 — a young shield-maiden from the Northern territories — fought with a broken arm for 40 minutes. She lost. But she fought until she couldn't lift the shield. She wasn't selected today. But I've added her to the watch list. Talent is forged, not found. #ValhallaRecruitment #TalentAcquisition #BattlefieldScouting
